In 2004, Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian, created a task force that would help preserve the rivers of Valenzuela. The Bantay Ilog Project was in charge to ensure that no one will throw garbages in the 8 rivers of Valenzuela City. Urban Bulldog Rescue Boat took part in making these boats.

Valenzuela City Mayor REX Gatchalian, together with the City Rivers and Waterways Management Office (RWMO) and barangay officials, launches Bantay Ilog, a 24-man team equipped with eight new patrol boats in a ceremony held by the Polo River, May 14, 2014. Bantay Ilog is expected to boost the city’s capabilities in safeguarding its eight rivers and creeks namely the Coloong River, Lingunan River, Locos River, Polo River North, Polo River South and Santolan River, as well as Canumay Creek and Lingunan-Veinte Reales Creek. The event also inaugurated four new units of mini backhoe with barge that will boost the city’s capacity in clearing up debris from 48 creeks and waterways.
